19th Century wall-mounted pine box with turn-of-the-century medium mustard overpaint. A professional could probably remove the overpaint. The original dark brown/red paint underneath appears to be substantially intact. Classic Germanic lines. Purchased in Illinois but thought to have originated in Pennsylvania. Originally held a mortar and pestle. The wood is in excellent condition. Approximately 16" high X 6 3/4" wide X 3 1/4" deep.
